Arlene Dubo artist statement

My process begins with an idea that intrigues me about internally or externally observed nature. I explore these ideas through acrylic paintings. My work has been exhibited and sold at individual and group exhibitions for over thirty years, in Canada (Montreal, Toronto, and Bear River), the USA (Nashville and Cookeville), and most recently in Sri Lanka (Galle Fort UNESCO Heritage Site and Colombo).  For more information visit

Love and Knowledge is a series I have been working on since 2013. Stirred by readings on the science of meditation, the mindfulness movement and secular Buddhism, I created a group of paintings that consider how compassion results from a deep understanding of the transient nature of reality. This work is an exploration in the attitudes of loving kindness, compassion, empathetic joy and equanimity.
